Hello!
My name is Julia. Welcome to my Day Home!
As a mother of two boys, 21 and 24 years old, and a 12-year-old girl, I know firsthand that children need a warm and caring homelike environment, and therefore I want them to feel loved and safe in my daycare.
In August 2013, we moved to Calgary from Salt Lake City, Utah, where I ran an in-home daycare. I decided to keep running a day home here in Alberta because I enjoy working with the children.
I currently accept children 0 and up full and part-time. I have no more than 5 or 6 children at a time in my day home. I make sure each child at my house gets enough time and attention. If you don’t like busy daycares call me!
My hometown is Moscow, Russia, but I have lived in Germany, England, and the USA before. I used to work in a Preschool in England, therefore it is important for me that the children learn something in my Day at home. We have a lot of different toys and do interesting projects every week. We do painting, cutting, colouring and simple science hands-on activities. Special attention I pay to the outdoors. As my passion is nature and everything that is connected with it, I try to implement my passion in my work with children. We go outside one or two times every day and play in our backyard or walk to the park. The children enjoy exploring fields and forests during different seasons. They learn from watching bugs and creating cottages under the trees, splashing puddles and picking up sticks, melting icicles and shovelling snow.
I have a Diploma for Level 3 Early Childhood Education from Bow Valley College and I am familiar with the latest research regarding early childhood education and brain development. Social skills are the most important skills learnt during play in preschool ages. Our Day home is play-based. It means the children spend a lot of time playing and exploring in our day home. We have plenty of toys, and loose parts to choose from. Toys and materials are rotated weekly, so no one gets bored.
I am also familiar with the Montessori educational method and the children enjoy these games and activities very much. We read short Russian and English stories, play educational games together and talk about different topics. Our music/sports breaks help the children to coordinate their bodies and stay fit. The children and their moms enjoy gathering together for a celebration of Christmas, the 8th of March, Easter and other occasions in our Day Home.
We have a big clean home and a spacious backyard. I speak English, Russian and German.
